Sleeping beauty
The article "Sleeping away their blues" was thought provoking. It is indeed a revelation that bears and ground hogs sleep through winter and wake up occasionally. And there are animals that sleep in spring without opening their eyes even once!
What is absolutely astonishing however is that black fish freezes during the cold arctic winter and comes back to life when the ice starts to melt at the beginning of spring.
Viewed against this background, it would appear, that human beings are not as fortunate because a majority of them have sleep disorders leading to hypertension, stroke, heart attack and so on.
The only exception perhaps was Kumbhakarna in Ramayana who handicapped himself to prolonged sleep.
