A book of one-act plays, with a detailed introduction to the stage.

If you love mimicking your teachers or dressing up with the old clothes in your grandmother's cupboards, this is just the book for you. It's an introduction to the wonderful world of theatre, where you can step into someone else's shoes.
Good Heavens is a book of one-act plays, with a very detailed introduction to the stage. Poile Sengupta explains the concept of royalty and permission to reproduce or stage someone else's work, which is really important as most people take creative licence with others' efforts. She has included thoughtful details like telling her readers to take water and snacks with them as rehearsals can be long-drawn-out and laborious.
The book design and layout, though, is amateurish. It looks like someone working with Photoshop and PageMaker just ran it off their home computer and took it to the local binder.
Each of the seven plays focuses on a different aspect of theatre. "No, Not I" encourages fun ways to use language, "The White Elephant" and "The Monster Night" are imaginative with comic elements, and "Hamsadhwani" shows creative ways to work music and dance into a script.
This book will give aspiring actors a push in the right direction, and encourage writers to try their hand at scripts.
