Medicinal plants of India
VIKAS S. KHATRI
Continuing the series on medicinal plants that began on October 28 1997, the Department of Posts brought out another set of four stamps on the medicinal plants of India on April 7, 2003.
The stamps featuring in this set are on Guggulu (Commiphora wightii), Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Aswagandha (Withania somnifera) and Amla (Emblica officinallis). It is estimated that about 80,000 species of plants are used by the different systems of Indian medicine.
