BEST IN SHOW: But a bit stressed out. PHOTO: AP

Unlike his namesake, Evgeny Plushenko — named after the Olympic medallist and Russian skater — was not very happy with his win. Judged the "Best in Show" in his breed (beating 200 others), the 15-month-old Russian blue jumped out of a judge's arms during the Can Fancier's Association's annual show in New York and found a hideaway in a carpenter's room after 14 hours. An explanation from the association's website, quoted by news agency AP, said, "They love small spaces and can fit themselves into areas that you would not believe could make a cat feel comfortable." Though traps were baited with the best cat food, Evgeny refused to surrender. He slipped through a hole in the stands and disappeared until found, thirsty and hungry. But this is a story with a happy ending. A show dog that ran away from the Kennedy Airport in February is still missing.
