Wonderfully green

Indian Almond (Prunus amygdalus), a shady tree with large leaves, provides transitory shelter during the hot months.

The dark green leaves fade giving way to yellow due to the degeneration of chlorphyll. Soon the yellow leaves change to red and brown in the sun, die and fall from the tree. Fresh leaves shoot up, and from a bright parrot-green colour the leaves take on a shade of emerald and finally dark green. This whole process takes upto 10 days. On the fifth or sixth day you can see leaves in all colours.
