Conserve our resources

PAROMITA PAIN

Simple stories to teach the very young about pollution.

A set of four books by Teri, The Energy and Resources Institute, designed to teach the very young about the different ways we pollute the atmosphere, the dangers caused by this and the need to conserve our precious natural resources. Each book teaches a lesson through a simple story and various characters like the little girl and animals like the great Indian hornbill in the Flight with Birdy or the stream like in Anju and the Stream.

Each book has a bit of activity too, like joining the dots and creating pictures and colouring them in. Of the lot The Tree Party is a warm tale of three children caught in a downpour standing under a frangipani tree. Anju and the Stream, written in verse about the little girl whose favourite stream is polluted beyond belief, is a good read. The best thing about the books are the illustrations.

The Tree Party by Nandini Oberoi, Anju and the Stream by R.P. Subramanian, Jhilmil the Butterfly by Vijaylakshmi Nagaraj, Flight with Birdy by Sharmila Sinha, Teri - The Energy and Resource Institute,
