Monster mania

NIMI KURIAN

The adventures of a `monsterminator' are unparalleled.

An interesting book that recounts an exciting adventure of a `monsterminator' family called Mcfearless. Minerva and her brother tumble upon their father's secret unwittingly, but from the moment of discovery they are curious to learn everything about the business.

Ahmet Zappa has coined some interesting names for monsters, and especially the castle of the most evil monster king — Doominstinkinfart!

Because it is a memoir, the book itself is like a diary and it has some interesting sepia toned photographs. Interspersed in the story is information about various monsters like the logo, grumplemiser, krunkadillion, howleewoof and more. But what is fascinating is the defensive recipe that follows. Like the defensive recipe to ward off the howleewoof — besides other things you need a pair of human hands, a nose to sniff with, two of your own bare stinky feet (the stinkier they are, the more powerful the talisman will be) one opened tin of tuna, one cup of toilet water...

The adventure is like any other, but what makes the difference is Zappa's easy style of writing and the vivid images he conjures.

The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty Mcfearless by Ahmet Zappa. Puffin
