TALENT SHOW: The winners
Holding on to their crayons and watercolours, eager children between ages four and 15 waited to give shape to their creativity at the Children's Festival organised recently by the Coimbatore Ladies Circle No. 1 at Sindhi Vidyalaya.
The overcast skies did not dampen their spirit as 175 budding artists from 50 schools took part in the contest. The topics included "Bowl of Fruits", "Bunch of flowers", "Traffic in the city" and "Abdul Kalam's dream in 2020", and each one of them showed their imaginative skills in the work.
If one painting showed a worried looking dog standing near a bright green tree, another depicted a deer, tiger, horse and leopard standing near a water body. But, then, this contest was not just about artistic skills; the spirit of participation mattered too.
Some kids went that extra mile to add value to their creations, embellishing flowers with bright glitter borders and colouring their works with glossy paint.
The overall trophy went to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Matric H.S. School.
Chief guest Narayan Kumar, chairman, Coimbatore Round Table No. 9, gave away the prizes.
The prizewinners are:
Group 1: S. Vinona, GD Nursery School
Group 2: S. Shrilakshmi, ALG Matric School
