Abyssinian royals

Formerly known as Abyssinia, this mountainous country in north-east Africa, has a colourful history. The Ethiopian emperors claimed descent from King Solomon and the famous Queen of Sheba. This beautiful multicoloured series was issued in 1963 to commemorate the celebrated empresses of Ethiopia, from Queen of Sheba to the wife of Emperor Menelik II.
