WHAT BIG EARS: Not necessarily to hear you, my dear!

They may have big ears, but elephants also "hear" using other parts of their bodies, scientists have found. In recent research, biologists have discovered that elephants' feet and trunks are remarkably sensitive, allowing the animals to detect a wide range of vibrations. There's even evidence to suggest that elephants might understand the meaning of one shaky signal from another.
