In Japan, the 23rd of every month is "Letter Writing Day", to promote and encourage letter writing among youngsters. This campaign has been conducted nationwide since 1979. As part of this campaign, postage stamps depicting "Letter Writing Day" are issued in July each year. These five stamps are among the 14 issued in 2004.
