RING-NECK DUCK: Close brush with death.

Shot and taken for dead, Perky, a ring-neck duck, was stuffed into a refrigerator. But two days later, when the hunter's wife opened the door, the "dead" duck lifted its head. Taken to the veterinarian to repair the damage to her wing, Perky stopped breathing during surgery. Veterinarian David Hale performed emergency resuscitation to revive it. The collapse was due to sensitivity to anaesthesia and so Perky will not have to undergo any more surgery. The fractured wing has been fixed with a pin, instead.
