Students from Pollock, Sriprakash, J.K. Talent and other schools attended the workshop conducted by VUDA and team 4 on the topic "Ready for battle: The stress-free meet" for Std. X students.
Chiranjeevi, director of Medha Institute of Personality Development spoke on how important it was to set off goals and schedule studies, having faith in oneself and regular rehearsal to find out one's knowledge on the preparations done for a particular exam.
"Keep stress at bay before the exams from your mind. Though it is easy to say, you should not indulge in unnecessary worries, plan your studies properly and relax even when going to write an exam," he said by articulating his point effectively.
Watch out
Pragna Mitra, clinical psychologist, said headache, stomachache, body pain, vomiting, dizziness and drowsiness were some of the symptoms of stress.
She said of late, even children were suffering stress at a tender age due to negligence by parents and pressure put up by them for studies.
She said in most cases the symptoms developed by the students were being mistaken as an excuse to enjoy cartoon network or play video games.
Ms. Mitra pointed out a case where a three-year-old child tearfully complained of stress due to denial of parental attention following arrival of another sibling in their family.
"In another case, a mother complained to her that her first child always tops in the class but she is thoroughly disgusted with the second one who gets third or fourth rank in the class," she pointed out.
VUDA Vice-Chairman G. Venkatram Reddy, who inaugurated the workshop, said when stress mounted before the exams, the students were bound to have a negative experience.
In most cases, stress is developed for not being attentive in classes, lack of proper preparation and being weak in a subject/few subjects due to aversion.
