GREAT ACHIEVER: Ready for France
It is almost one year since the young Alison E Viegas of standard ten of St. Mary's Composite PU College was selected to be the Goodwill Ambassador to France. Alison participated in the Indo France Quiz contest online recently. The quiz is conducted by the Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Embassy of France in India and the Indo French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research.
She was short listed for the finals to be held at Delhi. For the performance round, Alison stunned the audience with a powerful presentation of the character of Brutus, from Shakespeare's play `Julius Caesar'. She was one of the trio along with Shweta S and Sherlyn Menezes, her classmates, who topped the State Level Helpage India Quiz, held at Bangalore and represented the state at the Regional Level at Hyderabad. She is a member of the Karnataka Quizzing Association. This youngster has other interests too In the elocution competition conducted by the Central Excise Commission during 2005-'06, she bagged the first place. In the National Digital Elocution competition conducted by the Retimer Web World, she went up to the semi final stage.
Many interests
She is an ace Table Tennis player and has represented up to the State level in the junior category. Writing is another hobby she cherishes, and has written a large number of essays, as well as poems and short stories. But literature and science are her passions, while she enjoys soothing music. At school, Alison tops the list of high scorers. Alison's parent, especially her mother Matilda Viegas, is a great source of motivation for Alison. It was an overwhelming moment for her to meet His Excellency, Dominique Girard, the Ambassador of France to India and receive her winner's certificate. Alison has a lot to undertake. Soon after her Board Exams, she has to prepare for the tour to France, while learning the language.
