Bust that stress

NIVEDITA GANGULY

Here are a few tips to help you.

The mounting stress to perform well and to fulfil the dreams of their parents takes its toll on the students. "Often parents want to relive their dreams and aspirations through their children and keep very high expectations on their children. This in turn leaves a deep psychological impact on the students if they happen to fail," says P. Sarada, principal of Visakha Valley School. To counter stress related problems in students, an attitudinal change in parents is essential, she feels. Academic grinding and non-stop bullying leads to unsound mind.

Most parents don't give enough time to their children and also expect them to come out with high marks, which invariably builds up stress on the students. On the other hand if parents are comforting and motivating, it works wonders on the children. "Learning process should be gradual not enforced with a systematic method and routine," she adds.

Principal of Jassver School E. Annapoorna feels : "Education means the all-round development of the students," she says. The stress faced during exams is a combination of peer and parental pressure.

Motivational thoughts and a relaxed state of mind are very crucial to make the students feel at ease.

"Here comes the role of parents who can guide the students through the stressful phase of exams," she adds.
