Little artist

Her paintings depict her love for bright colours.

At the entrance of the ICCR art gallery in Ravindra Bharati is a pinboard with dozens of pictures of a young girl. In the middle is a large photograph with the girl in denim sitting askance on a table with her trophies and medallions that make her appear like either a Wimbeldon champ or an ace athlete. She is neither. Monognya, the eight-year-old girl is an artist having a solo show at the gallery. The paintings hung on the walls at the gallery swing in the fan breeze and reveal a girl with an intrinsic love for bright colours. The paintings at best be called naοve art where she paints birds, still art, images of idols and naturescapes that are simple but difficult if the age of the girl is factored in. But when the girl does symbolic pieces then it is somewhat difficult to grasp. Like a face where a stethoscope and the Red Cross are transformed into what is effectually a face.

Where do we go from here?
