Writers of tomorrow
The results of the Scholastic Writing Awards 2007 were announced recently in Delhi. The Writing Awards, is a national short story and non-fiction writing competition for students of Std. IV-IX.
The judges for the final round of selections were authors Anushka Ravishankar and Paro Anand, literary critic and writer Nilanjana S. Roy and senior bureaucrat and writer Amit Dasgupta.
The winner for short story (Std. IV-VI) was Roopkatha Ghosh of Calcutta Girls' H.S., Kolkata. The second prize was won by Amita Ajith Kamat of Vidya Shilp Academy, Bangalore, and the third prize by Jashan Jayesh Merchant of the Hiranawadani Foundation School, Thane.
The first prize for short story (Std. VII-IX) was won by Devna Saith of Apeejay School, New Delhi. The second prize was won by G. Kamla Priya of S.B.O.A. M.H.S.S., Madurai, and the third prize by Ritvik Chaturvedi of Amity International School, New Delhi.
The first prize for non-fiction (Std. IV-VI) was won by Aratrika Ghose of Calcutta Girls' H.S., Kolkata. The second prize was won by Kunal Mitra of DPS Megacity, Kolkata. Siddharth Venkatraman of Jawahar Vidyalaya S.S.S., Chennai, was awarded the third prize.
Jayeesha Kaushik of Sri Ram School, Gurgaon was awarded the first prize for non-fiction (Std, VI-IX). The second prize was won by Parinda Mody of St Kabir School, Vadhodara and the third prize by Madhura Pande of DLDAV Model School, New Delhi.
