Naandi Foundation

Naandi Foundation, an NGO, is running a kitchen to prepare food under the midday meal scheme of the Government catering to Government and Corporation schools in the city. According to Lina Joseph, director of the midday meal scheme in Naandi, the organisation was supplying midday meal to about 42,000 students belonging to 109 Government schools in the city.

Naandi kitchen in the Industial Estate was also recently visited by the Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh. Naandi Foundation vice-president Chidra Jayanti, Programme Manager Jose, kitchen manager J.B. Muralikrishna and others were present during the minister's visit. The food prepared by Naandi was in adherence to the norms, ensuring the nutrient value with the held of modern kitchen apparatus, she stated. While the Government supplied the rice, the pulses and vegetables were procured from wholesale dealers. Ms. Joseph also disclosed that as many as nine trucks were engaged to transport the food to all schools at the earliest.
