Veggies and all good things

PAROMITA PAIN

In praise of a diet that is nutritious as well as balanced.

Are you one of those who find veggies and fruits a bore? Are you one of those who wish for a world without milk and eggs? Then The Road to Nutrition books, Rasha and her Veggie Friends and Rasha and her Super Strengthy Friends are meant just for you. In Rasha and her Veggie Friends, Rasha does not like vegetables. But her secret friend Olive the doll decides to set things right. She takes Rasha to the vegetable garden and introduces her to the wonderful stuff that grows there and lets them explain how good they are for Rasha's growing body. The brown fat Potato, Crunchy the carrot and many others like them when regularly eaten make your eyes better, muscles stronger and keep you healthy. There's even a song that you can sing to display your newfound knowledge at the end of the tale.

Next in the series is Rasha and her Super Strengthy Friends. One day Rasha comes home too tired to even play. An important match has to be played and won — what's Rasha to do? It's Olive to rescue again! She takes Rasha to the Pyramid Farm where Grainy Grain Wheat, Rice, Milka the cow and Chickity the chicken explain the benefits of a right diet. The books are meant for very young children. The illustrations make every page a riot of colour. The idea of putting in a song makes them perfect activity books for use in classrooms or the nursery.
