Monument to love

VIKAS S. KHATRI

The Department of Posts issued a commemorative postage stamp of the Taj Mahal, the symbol of eternal love in 2004.

The Taj Mahal complex comprises five main elements: the Darwaza or main gateway, the Bagicha or garden, the mosque, the Naqqarkhana or rest house, and the Rauza or Mausoleum. Four minarets surround the central dome, which is 187 feet high. The architecture combines elements and styles of Persian, Central Asian and Islamic architecture.
