Winning streak

This Std. VII student has won the State award in water colouring.



Winner: Harshitha’s moment.

Harshitha V.V., a Std. VII student of Nithyananda Bhavan English Medium School, Chirakkal, Kannur, has won the State award in water colouring conducted in connection with the 159th anniversary of Raja Ravi Varma at Kilimanur Palace.

Harshitha has also secured the first place and gold medals in various State-level painting competitions organised by The Hindu Young World, www.schoolindia.com, Companion Club and Kerala Vet erinary Service Association.

Her paintings depict natural beauty as well as the miseries of human life. She has won over 500 trophies and 50 gold medals in various drawing, cultural and literary competitions. Acknowledging her achievements in visual art paintings, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, accorded her the National Award Scholarship for the year 2006-2007. Harshitha has also proved her talent in mimicry, dance and music.

Her father V.V. Haridas is a lecturer at the Government Polytechnic College, Kannur, and her mother Radhamani, a teacher at Government Higher Secondary School, Pallikunnu.
