Little artists

Showing amazing ideas and hues, All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society organised a two-day exhibition at Habiart Gallery recently. There were 53 paintings by 70 children. Aged between 5 and 17, these young painters were students of noted artist Bablu Basak.

Hailing from different social strata, one kid preferred painting a child giving a flower to a tiger, the other one showed his angst at the demolition of jhuggis by the Government for ‘beautifying’ Delhi. Basak, who was supported by Habiart Gallery in the initiative, said the kids contributed Rs. 500 each. “Such are their bright ideas, that the exhibition finds many takers.

Last time, Gursharan Kaur bought three paintings. This time I fixed the price at Rs.1500 for each painting. The child whose painting is sold takes away the whole amount,” informs Basak.
