Success only: Overcoming problems
As the door was thrown open, 95 cheering kids came rushing to their parents. They hugged and kissed their parents, some with tears running down their cheeks and handed cards before sitting down to await Vidyashankar who was the man behind the programme “Only Success”. It was a special day for all of them as it was Graduation Day. Designed to help children combat their problems in school and life, this programme is believed to guide to make a better life for the
m, instead of being beaten by the storms she/he faces.
“I am shy”, “my parents don’t like me”, “My teacher does not pay attention to me,” “I hate maths” can all be taken care of, provided the child is ready to make the change within himself first. This is the primary concept of the programme — as they said “For things to change, I must change first.”
Make a break
Waving “I love exams” posters, they spoke frankly of how they hated exam time before because they were mainly not sure of what they were going to face, but now they were actually looking forward to it.
The highlight of the day was the board breaking ceremony which was symbolic of their breaking of with their negative past and reconfirming their new ideals.
During the “Sharing time” they spoke of their experiences. While one exclaimed, “From now on I’m not a normal person, but a champion,” another said “I have a hero in me”. Karthik said that the mind mapping technique helped him especially “to realise who he was”. It was a proud mother who hugged her son and laughed, “I can’t believe that this is my son who is talking like this and on stage too.”
And so these 95 young crusaders will, in turn, be the coaches for the next batch of students, to inspire them with their own experiences that has enriched and enhanced their lives.
