Experiment with Science

The science popularisation programme is likely to start next week.

The Centre for Science in Society (C-SiS) of Cochin University and Science and Technology will start its popular science popularisation programme — a one-day attachment programme, for school children from June 26.

The programme is aimed at providing ample experiment facility to children to learn science through interesting experiments using play models, gadgets and toys which are based on important science principles.

A children’s science park, science pavilion, laboratories in physics, chemistry and biology, maths, computer science and children’s science library will be fully utilised for the one-day attachment programme.

School authorities may contact C-SiS office sufficiently in advance and make bookings for the day or days they intend to visit. The requisite fee per student should be paid along with the application on plain paper, said a communication from the C-SiS here.

Mandatory

The name and address of the school, contact person’s telephone number, number of children attending the programme, their standards and the time of arrival and departure should be clearly stated in the application.

The payment can be made either in cash or as DD in favour of the Director, Centre for Science in Society, encashable in the State Bank of Travancore, Thrikkakara main branch.

The fee for the programme for schools receiving no aid or grant from the Government is Rs. 60 per student. For Government aided schools, the fee is Rs. 25 per student.

Children from poor families will be granted concession on the basis of recommendation from the Principal/Headmaster of the school. More details can be had from: Director, Centre for Science in Society, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi-21. Phone: 0484-2575039
