Different moods on the first day: In school

Last week the city schools re-opened after the summer vacation. Corridors and classes came alive after a long hiatus. Be it tiny tots or the older ones, everybody seemed to be excited. Meeting their friends after summer vacation, buying crisp new books and uniform and the new curriculum all added to the fun. There was almost full attendance in most of the schools even though weather was not conducive. While the old students felt rejuvenated and excited in exchanging greeti ngs with their friends, the first time school comers flaunted their new bags, dresses and water bottles.

New beginning

Sharda Devi, Principal of Visakha Valley School in the city says, “It was a wonderful experience to see the students back at school, all enthusiastic and looking forward to seeing their classmates and new teachers. The first day was a fun filled day with new introductions and most of the students seemed fully energised.”

Ayush, Std. I, seemed overjoyed to be back at the school. He was elated playing with his friends. He and his classmates shared their vacation experiences with each other and with the new teachers. Says, Snigdha Bansal of Std. XI, “The first day after vacations is always special. This year was no exception.

We exchanged greetings and presents with our class mates." With some schools making special arrangements to welcome the students, the mood was upbeat.

Harsha Chiranjeevi, Director, Etasi Timapany Schools, says, “For the junior students who joined the school this year, teachers gathered the new admissions and stood at the gate of the school to guide them to their respective classes. The classes were decorated with balloons and welcome note was written on the blackboard in all the classes.”

The cheerful faces of students, teachers and parents were just the perfect ending of the summer holidays and reopening of the schools.
