Queen of the east

KABITA ROY

An important attraction in Chennai is St. Andrew’s Kirk. The church was consecrated in 1821. The Kirk is sometimes referred to as the “Queen of Scottish churches in the east”. The architecture is considered one of the best examples of Georgian architecture in the whole of Asia. The stamp costing Rs. 8 depicts the front view of the Kirk and was released in 1997.
