Eight plays that are sure to keep you interested.
|
A delightful collection of eight plays, carefully chosen to whet the appetite of the reader and the actor. While some of the plays are whodunits, there are others with mystery, suspense and horror.
Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic story Rappaccini’s Daughter retains its horror-effect though very straight forward and easily put forward. There is also a humorous play by Saki about an embarrassing mix-up. As Simple as ABC by Ellery Queen i
nvolves seven actors and a narrator. The story builds up slowly leading to the denouement.
Even complex stories like that of Arthur Conan Doyle and O. Henry are very straightforward and well done, not losing any of the original touch. Each play begins with a short introduction, followed by the characters. At the end of each play there is a note on the author, recommended further reading and also ideas for you to write your own play.
The plays are simply written and easy to perform with minimal sets and props.
These plays are based on stories written by Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Ellery Queen, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Saki and O’Henry.
Simple stories that are familiar and well loved, it would be a pleasure to see them enacted.
