Britain’s largest pup

COMPILED BY NIMI KURIAN

Samson, a three-year-old, 6.5 foot, 276 pound Great Dane-Newfoundland mix has been crowned Britain’s biggest dog, and he’s still growing. Samson is larger than many ponies and has paws the size of dinner plates. His owners spend more than $122 per month just to feed him, The Daily Mail reported. Julie Woods and her husband Ray call Samson a gentle giant. “People are often intimidated when they first see him because he’s about the size of a small horse and very quick,” says Julie Woods. “But he is so gentle and wouldn’t harm a fly. He loves being patted and is very affectionate.” The Woods’s found Samson at a rescue centre when he was six months old and were immediately smitten, she said. They don’t mind cost of the custom-made collars, food or the four two-mile walks a day — but there is one issue they weren’t ready for. “The only problem is that he snores quite loudly,” Julie Woods told The Mail. “Sometimes I think I feel the house start to shake.”
