Tina, the tallest?

Photo: AP

Still room to grow: Tina, an English shire horse.

Tina is just three years old but she already weighs in at 1600 pounds. But that’s okay. Tina is an English shire horse and still has more time to grow. Horses are measured at the withers or the top of the shoulder and Tina’s current measurement in 81 inches but her owner Jim Williams estimates that she could reach 84 inches. Williams is hoping that Tina (officially Jenson Diplomat Tina) will break world records. The current tallest horse according to the Guinne ss World Record is Radar, a Belgian draft horse who measures 791/2 inches. Tina will be measured in end-July in an open-to-the-public event and the measurement will be sent to Guinness in London. Any money made from the event will go to her “carrot fund”, says Tina’s trainer Jaime Barnett, as the horse eats around five pounds a week.
