Two nations

A mega-flood that occurred 400,000 years ago was responsible for separating Britain and France by breaking off the strip of land that connected the two. The rising sea levels that followed led to the creation of the English Channel. This was the result of a new study by three scientists from the Imperial College, London, and an official of the UK Hydrographic Office that used hi-res sonar data. The study also pointed out that this event may have put an end to migration bot h by humans and animals. The study was featured in the science magazine Nature.
