Whiz kids?

PAROMITA PAIN

Music and harmony were the order of the day.

The Horlicks whiz kids show is a regular feature and is usually a lot of fun. But time can do funny things and if the quality of the “Indian Film hits” session was anything to go by, then time hasn’t been kind. The marked lack of enthusiasm among the participating schools should have been warning enough.

Surprise winners

When for the nth time the presenter shouted “who is the best cheering school in Chennai?”, the audience screamed begging him to stop. Misunderstanding the plaintive cries, he gamely pressed on.

Valliammal M.H.S.S. was wonderful in their rendition of “Break the rules” from Boyz. But it was Bala Vidya Mandir that surprised. Their spirited and well co-ordinated Shah Rukh number from “Don” was good.

The surprises didn’t end there. When the results were announced loud groans rent the air. Expected winners hadn’t won and the disappointment was palpable.
