Life saving power

On October 1, 1976, the erstwhile Post and Telegraph department issued a special stamp on voluntary blood donation. Propagating the responsibility of the healthy public, in donating blood to their less-fortunate fellow persons, October 1, is observed as Blood Donation Day.

The dramatic life-saving power of blood transfusion is symbolically depicted on the stamp. Symbolism on Indian postage stamps’ couold be a new and useful area of study for stamp lovers.
