Stamps of the United Nations

KABITA ROY

United Nations is the only organisation in the world, neither a country nor a territory, that is permitted to issue postage stamps. It is also the only postal authority that issues stamps in four different currencies — U.S. dollar, Swiss Francs, Austrian Schillings and the Euro. The idea of the U.N. issuing its own stamps was first proposed by Argentina in 1947. The first UN stamps were issued in U.S. dollar denominations on UN Day, October 24, 1951
