Drawing a stamp

JOHN L PAUL

Lucky Sankar’s drawing is now going to be a stamp!

Stepping in to nurture and encourage the artistic talent of the young, is the Postal Department, which commemorates Children’s Day each year by bringing out stamps, colourful maxim cards (post cards) and other stuff designed by children.

Winner

The theme this year was The Magic of the Night, which beautifully revealed the flights of fancy that children often go through. A Kochi lad, Sankar Dinesh Kamath, a standard IV student of Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Trikkakkara, won the second prize in the national event. Sankar came second in the painting contest which was held at numerous centres across the country, turning out to be sole prize winner from Kerala.

The first prize winner’s painting was selected to adorn a stamp. Sankar has been learning art since LKG. He plans to exhibit his paintings.
