Government Higher Secondary School, Killukottai


Geneva Convention Day was celebrated at the Junior Red Cross unit of the Government Higher Secondary School, Killukottai, Pudukottai district recently. The headmaster of the school, B. Sukumar Devadoss, hoisted the Red Cross Flag to mark the inauguration of the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, he said the rise of Red Cross Movement was a commendable boon to mankind. The Geneva Conventions ensured protection to non-combatant soldiers and entitled them to humane treat ment after captivity. He also urged the youth to develop duty consciousness and helping tendency and said such functions would go a long way in creating an awareness among people, the younger generation in particular. The Junior Red Cross (JRC) counsellor of the school, S. Rathinasamy, underlined the important role played by the Red Cross volunteers in war ravaged countries.

The volunteers of the JRC along with the students, led by Rathinasamy, took out a rally in Killukottai town to create awareness among the local people on the importance of the Red Cross Movement.
