Chess champions: A success team.
With every premeditated and strategic move that was made at the G.H. Raisoni Memorial 22nd national junior girls under-19 chess championship tournament held at Nagpur recently, R. Preethi of Dolphin Matric H.S. School has won the bronze medal.
Preethi, Tamil Nadu Chess Champion, will represent the country in the international arena in the World Junior Championship, Asian Junior Championship and Chess championship tournament scheduled to be held in Moscow.
She is also eligible to contest in three consecutive open chess championship competitions to be held in Spain next year to IM and GM norms. At the Nagpur event, Preethi played 11 rounds of game and defeated Lakshmi Sahiti and Anusha of Andhra Pradesh Siva Sankari of Tamil Nadu, Hiran Manisha Mohanthi of Orissa, and Priyanka Kumari of Jharkand.
Preethi also made the game to end in draw by securing right points out of 11 against chess champions Kulkarni of Goa and Nathic Kiruthiga of Maharashtra, Kannuni Tejasvi and Madhana Sri of Andhra Pradesh, and won the third place.

Championship titles
Students of Dolphin School had won five championship titles among six contests in the Bharathiar Republic Day celebration sports meet organised by the Madurai District High, Higher Secondary and Matriculation Schools Athletic Association at Madurai Meenakshi Sundareswarar Girls H.S. School recently. The competitions were conducted at various levels — Under 14, Under 17, Under 19. M. Ilaya Bharathi contested in the under 17, while R. Preethi won in the under 19 category. R. Karthiyayini and S.S. Manikandan won the under 17 championship and AR. Seetha Lakshmi the under 14 event. The winners have been selected to take part in the State-level chess championship to be held in Chennai.
