Harris and Jesse realised that it was more fun to give than to receive.

'Im unhappy that my wish didn’t get fulfilled last Christmas, I hope Santa doesn’t overlook it this time,” said Harris. His aunt couldn’t help overhearing this. “Listen Harris, it’s sad that Santa didn’t fulfil your wish but just look at your cupboard. Your cupboard looks like it will explode anytime, it’s so full. Some of the toys are neglected and you have surely outgrown them. That’s why Santa feels sad and confused f
or he doesn’t find any space for new toys and gifts. I know you treasure some of these gifts but some are really old for you and could be a real blessing to a needy child.” Harris and Jesse looked at their cupboard and knew they had too much. They realised they never felt grateful for their gifts.
Cheerful giver
“You know why Santa is so happy and we all look forward to him every Christmas? Because he is a cheerful giver and a dispenser of good things. So instead of murmuring and complaining, why don’t you clean your cupboards and share your toys with someone in need; that will make Santa’s job easier. And Santa feels good when he sees happy, smiling children who are thankful for their gifts, take good care of them and share it with others,” continued their aunt.
Jesse said, “I do have so many pretty dolls; maybe this one could put a sparkle in Valerie’s eyes.”
The siblings suddenly came up with an idea. “Why don’t we play Santa.” Harris and Jesse surprised their parents by helping to bake the cake, arranging the house and the Christmas tree and thanked them for their gifts. They did it enthusiastically without putting on a long face and their parents were amazed. They visited Valerie with toys and goodies. Valerie was happy as her parents were too poor to buy her any gifts. Old Mrs. George couldn’t go anywhere and she was overjoyed to have the children play the piano for her. She was feeling so lonely; their presence brought some cheer in her lonely life. They realised that there is so much joy in giving and their little token of kindness could mean so much to someone. Playing Santa was so much fun, now they knew the secret of Santa’s merriness for he always spreads sunshine and was a cheerful giver.
