Guntur

The strains of “Silent Night” and “The First Noel” waft through the cold nights to bring warmth to our heart. Groups of young boys and girls visit our houses and sing carols which tell the wonderful story of Jesus’ birth. That is the spirit of Christmas.

Though the traditions and customs of a traditional Christmas had their origins in Europe, we too have caught on with the rest of the world in celebrating Christmas. The tradition of singing Carols in a Church on Christmas Eve is being observed in most of the churches in Vijayawada and Guntur.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Vijayawada and St. Mathews West Parish in Guntur are among the many churches that celebrate Christmas in splendour.

For the children there are dollops of fun as the churches organise competitions, fun games and contests in Bible reading.
