Techie Taffy
It’s that time of the year gain — when the days are gloriously new, long and happy with little to do. School takes its time to pick up. Some of us are lucky to be on holiday. Friends, family and food make these days of the first month of the year memorable. How have you decided to go through this year? Do you have any resolutions that you are serious about sticking to?
Did you know that the idea of resolutions isn’t new but as Techie discovered while surfing the info superhighway, they have been in existence for a very long time. They came much before Christmas cards — now isn’t that something to chew on?
The page at http://www.goalsguy.com/Events/n_facts.html takes a while to open but that’s because it has a very interesting game that you can play before you start reading. “Pop the balloons to welcome New Year” is actually meant for the very young but it’s fun to see which way Teddy moves as you pop the balloons! Choc a block with info, the page says it’s a “fun facts cornucopia, where you’ll find a little bit of everything related to New Years Resolutions. If you’ve ever wondered how the New Year is celebrated in Belgium, you’ve come to the right place. If you want to find out how Happy New Year is pronounced in Italian, you’ll find out here. If you are interested in learning about the history of New Years resolutions, we’ll tell you all about it.”
“The celebration of the new year is the oldest of all holidays,” says http://wilstar.com/holidays/newyear.htm. an interesting site with well written easy to read info that you could also use in school projects related to the history of the new year. The only problem here is that the page nearly takes a day to open. But be patient for it’s worth the wait.
