Never scoff at a school project. For if you are really involved and interested in turning in a good report then be sure you are in for an adventure. That’s what happens to Kabir! He is off to spend his vacation with his father in Antarpur. His history teacher has given him a project to work on. It is a study of the kaands. Little did Kabir know that this innocuous study of lesser known tribals would open up a whole new world of adventure.
Rahul Srivastava brings to the story a number of issues — murder, caste, religion, superstition, taking away tribal lands, murky politics and more. An interesting story of a boy’s curiosity and the need to delve into the nitty gritty of things to discover the truth.Written with vivid descriptions, the book is gripping.
The book begins with Kabir on the train to Antrapur — situated 24 hours away from Bangalore. His father is the Assistant Divisional Manager. As a ‘railway’ child he has travelled and stayed in almost all the cities of India. And this time he has to travel to this small town and he is sure that it is going to be a long, boring holiday.
However, the fascinating characters he meets and the quaintness of the place proves to be more exciting than anything he has ever imagined.
