Talented: Tejaswini B. of Puttur
MANGALORE
Tejaswini B. of Puttur is aiming big. She wants to be another Padma Subramaniam, the great Bharatanatyam exponent. A student of Ramakrishna High School in Puttur has been seriously pursuing her interest in Bharatanatya at Sri Mookambika Nrityakendra in the town, about 60 kms from Mangalore.
Though she started attending Bharatanatya classes because her parents wanted her to, she has decided to pursue it with a passion. She has won the national level postal bharatanatyam competition thrice and was the runner up once.
She practises Bharatanatya at home for about an hour a day. She has bagged the Aryabhata award instituted by the Banglaore-based Aryabhata Pratisthana. She has passed her Karnataka Bharatanatya senior examination with distinction.
What does she like so much about Padma Subramaniam? “Her expressions,” Tejaswini says. Tejaswini pursues her interest in academics and other fields as well. She bagged the gold medal in karate in a state level competition in Mysore in 2002 and participated in the national level competition in Chennai.
