Cleaner greener city: Youth to the rescue
A bunch of cheerful children painted the green Lal Bagh greener on Republic Day. As part of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation, Karnataka Home Grounds and the NGO Art Mantram, a spot painting contest was held for children at Lal Bagh.
The theme for the workshop was “Green Bangalore - Live Green, Build Green - Nurture the Planet” and is part of the KSPHC’s initiative of encouraging a green Bangalore.
A total of 220 students participated in the contest.
“All the students are underprivileged children who come from minority schools. We hope to provide them a platform in order to develop and nurture the children’s hidden talents while also educating them about pollution in the city," said Shyama Hosali Sethi, President of Art Mantram.

The children were divided into three groups: under 10 years, 10-15 years and above 15.
Participation certificates along with lunch were provided to all the participants.
The best three entries from each group will get sponsorship from Art Mantram.
The participating children were really excited about the competition,
V. Narasimhna, a standard IX student of Kavalbyrasandra Government School, said, “My dream is to save Bangalore from getting more polluted.”
Daniya Talath, standard X student, from Al Mubarak School, said, “If we don’t do something to save the city now, things will deteriorate further.”
