Their say:Views of children.
If you are that someone who feels that media is the most influential phenomenon of today’s society, listen to the trained voices of Fusco Matric H.S. School students who presented variety entertainment programmes about the media.
The 28th annual day celebrations of the school organised variety programmes on the theme “Mass Media: Grace or Menace” with a series of entertainment programmes that pinpointed the mistakes adults make while bringing up children.
With a brief introduction, the commentators narrated the parable of the good soil which produced manifold and the rough soil which produced 30 per cent to remind the public how to differentiate the good and evil effects of the media.
The advantages of receiving news from different parts of the world through newspaper, magazines, television, internet, and acquiring knowledge were pointed out through tableau, skits and presentations, said Sr. Mary Antony, principal.
Home life
The students enacted scenes where the members of the family, especially parents, neglect their duties like helping children with their homework, cooking meals for the family on time, and giving care and attention to the family members in various ways because of their addiction to watching TV serials.
The programme also highlighted children wasting precious time, health and energy using electronic gadgets unsuited for their age. Through creative songs, dance and skits, the students spread the message that “all of us who professionally use the mass media are shapers of society. We can either vulgarise society or lift it to a better level.”
