Cleaner, greener
|
This cub reporter who is also the president of eco club, talks about the change in his neighbourhood.

Regular clearing: Makes a whale of a difference.
I live in Anna Nagar. I would like to share my joy at my neighbourhood turning into a cleaner and greener place because of some reforms introduced by the Government. There used to be a number of roadside eateries near my house. These eateries were very popular and a lot of people visited them. However, as a result a lot of garbage was generated. The stench of the rotting garbage was terrible. It also proved to be
a veritable breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies. This in turn was the cause for illness.
But recently some laws were passed and these eateries were fined because of the garbage they had created. As a result they are more careful.
Now we have an employee from the corporation who makes regular visits and cleans up the area.
I am proud to say that I now look upon my locality as a cleaner and greener one.
My school has also taken efforts to combat intractable garbage disposal.
Our school has an eco club which stresses upon the benefits of the three Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as well as other methods like vermicomposting and so on.
All of us should actively participate in environmental issues and contribute our mite in making our planet a better place to live in.
