Tribute to a conqueror

Sir Edmund Hillary died on January 11, 2008. He and Tenzing Norgay were the first two to set foot on the hitherto unconquered peak in the Himalayas.

The New Zealand Post Office honoured Hillary in 2003, by issuing a stamp to mark the 50th anniversary of the conquest of Mount Everest.
