Nehru Yuva Kendra
The Perambalur district unit of the Nehru Yuva Kendra conducted a meeting to pay respect to Gandhiji on his death anniversary at the Padalur Government Higher Secondary School. The headmaster of the school, Sheikh Saleem, presided. The vice-chairman of the Alathur panchayat union Asokan honoured two volunteers of the Indian National Army (INA) Ayyakkannu of Padalur and Muthu of Irur. The president of the Padalur panchayat Veeramuthu distributed prizes to
the winners of the various competitions. The highlight of the meeting was the planting of saplings by leaders Rev. Soosai Manickam, Muthusamy of Sanmarka Sangam and Moulvi Mohamed Sirajudeen and they also conducted inter-religious prayers. The coordinator of the Nehru Yuva Kendra a. Kamal Batcha, Aruputham and Vinayagamoorthy, teachers, spoke on the sacrifices made by Gandhi for the freedom of the country.
