Two centuries and a half

KABITA ROY

On April 26, 2006, Sweden released one 15kr value stamp which portrays Mother Svea, the symbol of Sweden. The stamp was issued on the occasion of 250 years of Sweden’s bureau of engraving and printing, Tumba Bruk, founded by Riksbank (Sweden’s Central Bank) in 1755 in a move to stop the flow of forgeries in the country. Following the foundation of the bureau, Sweden no longer imported the paper used for printing money.
