Travels with my friends

A cross-country journey with six friends. Adventure, mystery and uncertainty!
|
Gentle, the giraffe, is very unhappy at the zoo. He finds a friend in Sonu, a thin orphan boy, who promises to help him return to the jungle. Sonu names Gentle “Lamboo” and one night they both flee the zoo.
On the way, one after another, they meet a scrawny grey-brown donkey called Professor, Cleopatra, a duck with one blue foot, baby elephant Mallipoo, and Cyclops a one-eyed cat. They decide to be friends.
Every day is a surprise — when they cross fields and mountains, catch fish and rescue a wounded woman. Suddenly they walk into a village to perform a circus act. The tribals find the animal show amusing and in gratitude chart out a map for them to follow to the jungle. Sonu and his friends set out again.
The highpoint of their journey is when they find themselves in a place where they least expect to land in. Hugs are exchanged and much joy prevails. Sonu finds a home and all his friends too!
The story could have read better if it was shorter. The bright illustrations are an attraction.
