Vidya Vikasini Opportunity School


Learning disabilities in children were discussed at a training programme on inclusive education for private school teachers conducted at Vidya Vikasini Opportunity School.

Dr. Jayanthi Narayan spoke about the common symptoms like difficulty in expressing oneself, delay in speech, inability to follow directions found in children with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD).

She told the teachers that extra care is needed to help children with SLD cope with regular studies.

Reena Bandari, director, Voice and Vision, National Resources and Training Centre for Children with visual impairment and additional disabilities, gave a lecture on multiple disabilities in children with focus on visual and hearing impairment.

S.S. Jayalakshmi, director, Vidya Vikasini Institutions, spoke about the importance of inclusive education.

There was an interactive session with parents.
