Spontaneous chain reaction: The first day at school

Sleepy eyed, in freshly ironed uniforms tagging along with mom, struggling to shed the feeling of gloom of getting back into the grind again. After the long lazy summer holidays, the schools have finally reopened.

Nervous little faces holding the fingers of their anxious parents queued up outside the school premises from the early hours of the day. With new books, new bags, sparkling new uniforms and with the insatiable dreams and aspirations of parents, the li ttle ones entered the classrooms. A mixed feeling prevailed as the children prepared themselves for the classes ahead.

Hard to part

Plaintive wails echoed through the kindergarten classrooms as yet another academic session began. With tears welled up in their eyes, the tiny tots made all possible demands and resorted to different antics to stay away from the school lessons.

All that little ones wanted to do on the first day was to have their mummy by their side.

One teacher even reported of a mother who sobbed along with her child at the prospect of being separated from her. A little one marked his protest by bawling so loudly that his mother was hurriedly summoned inside. The others stood near the door, peeked from the window and kept turning back from the gate.

The fear of the unknown plagued the little ones as they insisted on returning to their old classrooms. It was a tough time for the parents too who tried to console their wards with all efforts.

Though the first day of school started with trepidation and tears, the joy of mingling, singing, learning and playing with classmates brought a smile soon to the faces of many children. Games and friendly conversations marked the first day of school.

New bonds were forged and the best friends came together to share their experiences of the summer vacation.
